Worldview (Weltanschauung), Political Ideology, and Philosophy. The Political Philosophy of Father Joseph M. Bocheński
Abstract
The article is devoted to a presentation of the political philosophy of Father J.M. Bocheński (1902–1995), one of the most well-known of contemporary Polish philosophers and logicians representing the Thomistic and later analytic tradition. The paper brings a certain interpretation of his early political philosophy in the light of his later concept of “Weltanschauung” (worldview). Namely, he sharply distinguished scientific philosophy and worldview, but he had already developed a theory of nationalist worldview. His theory of the nation is very original and insightful. This theory is his specific contribution to political philosophy, probably the least known today.
