About Joseph M. Bocheński’s Philosophy of Enterprise and the Causes of the Present Financial Crisis
Abstract
This article is connected with my research in the area of computer simulation of social behavior. My purpose is to propose new topics for philosophical research, and to attempt to depict the present world financial crisis through Bocheński’s analysis of company. For example I propose a philosophy of management based on virtue ethics, business philosophy based on Kotarbiński’s ethic, etc. The fundamental cause of the financial crisis in the USA and Europe is the greed of managers of banks.
The structure of this text is as follows: (1) Some methodological remarks; (2) What is the philosophy of enterprise and what is its place in philosophy?; (3) State of research; (4) Bocheński’s stand; (5) A contribution to the ontology of company; (6) Financial crisis – the present context of the philosophy of enterprise.
