Abstract


Descartes’ Meditations are, undoubtedly, one of the most crucial points of modern thinking. Paradoxically, the rational dimension of the Cartesian project is founded on the hypothesis of absolute madness. This madness is, at the same time, an excellent clinical picture of paranoia as the Lacanian psychoanalysis has it. Lacan stressed that, for the state of mental sanity, there is a necessity of some type of transcendent warrant. In this article, author describes: relations between the Cartesian paranoia and the Lacanian perspective on paranoia and the Lacanian reading of Schreber’s Memoirs.
