Abstract

In the paper the philosophical conceptualizations of greyness in Paul Klee’s theory of the “grey point” are being analyzed as well as an essay on Naples by Walter Benjamin and Asja Lācis, where the concepts of greyness and porosity are used as the keys to the interpretation of the city. The greyness and the concept of greyness seem to contain the highest philosophical potential amongst all the colors. As an idea it makes possible a conceptualization of some reflections on being and its spectral structure. For her unique quality of indeterminacy the grey color embodies some kind of a transitive space in which presence and absence mix, intertwine and tangle up.
