Problem konfliktów moralnych w pluralistycznej demokracji

Paulina Mendeluk

Abstract

The idea of pluralism has been significantly developed in the Western Civilization. It is commonly assumed that the only right model of democracy is the one that implements the pluralism rule. The considerations of this article concentrate on the extent to which the law in pluralist democracy has the right to interfere with morality. Therefore, the main goal of the article is to present the essence of moral conflict problems in pluralist democracy. It must be noted that the law in force in a democratic society presents a framework for public morality, and the plurality rule in democratic systems legitimates the existence of private moralities that might conflict with the public morality. This gives rise to a growing number of conflicts and moral dilemmas that may destabilize democratic social order.
